How To: Recover Accidently Deleted Torrent in qBittorrent

Well, this is the most occurring panic situation for most of the torrent users. A Sudden heart attack to long waited torrent download, when you accidentally delete that a moment of silence floats around and then mind wakes to ramble upon that. I KNOW IT, I was there too, unfortunately, that time I didn't have any info to recover my own things.

BUT!

Now here it is for you guys to recover accidentally deleted torrents. Here note is to take that, SOLUTION only works for if you have deleted torrent or Removed torrent. The solution doesn't work if you have removed the data along with the removal of the torrent. Generally, there is a check mark or checkbox appears when you remove a torrent from the torrent client which can be hidable from preference to stop annoying every time asking about it (but it's really helpful though)

Let's Dive In!

Here in this article, I'll be using qBittorrent because as it is the best client, if you wanna know why do check here. When you accidently deleted the torrent without checking in the "Delete file from hard disk also" option, you are safe to bring it back. The way you can do is to go RUN utility in your windows by pressing:

1. WIN + R  - Run Utility

2. Type:   %APPDATA%

This will open up Roaming folder of your user directory if you have any idea what I just said ! just keep going. doesn't matter.

3. Search for Torrent folder with a name of "qBittorent/BitTorrent/uTorrent" depending upon which client you are using. Open it !. if you have moved the downloaded data of torrent you want to recover then go to step 5 else step 4.

4. Search for your torrent you deleted, it should be there. Open it and your torrent will be checking your download progress and resume again where it was previously.

NOTE: Please don't change the place of downloaded data for which you are trying to recover the torrent which you have earlier set during the first time you started the download. If you have changed the placed, Not a big deal, you just have to specify the location for your previously downloaded data during opening file from a qBittorent directory, and it will resume after checking the integrity of the file.

5. This step is only when you have moved downloaded data for the torrent which you want to recover. Copy the location of downloaded data, for ex: "C:\movies\Jumanji Series\" this location you have to specify by pasting it when you double click the torrent file you just found. by pasting it and pressing OK then the client will be checking file integrity and resume it.

As the solution only works if you have not deleted the downloaded data if you have accidently deleted data also then may be some recovery software like Recuva come in handy but chances are very minimum. It better to have some shredder software which has deleted items which don't go directly to the bin. some option like such is given by AVG PC TuneUp.

  1. Concerning qBittorrent, I found my disappeared torrents not in the Roamin folder but in \AppData\Local\qBittorrent\BT_backup.

  2. I wish I had found this article earlier. I accidentally deleted a torrent which had downloaded about 39% (about 15GB). I was having a slow internet connection and in the panic and I did something myself . Just randomly restored filed from trash bin and started download again. It got resumed but started from 25% (about 7GB I guess).
